Focus on the Fabulous
We finished the semester in fine fashion this past week. It was a great first half of the school year, and students and staff finished strong. The last week before break, students and staff had fun doing a Christmas-themed spirit week, coming to school in PJs, red and green, and ugly sweaters!
We celebrated JJ Beiriger and her impending retirement. JJ has been in the district for 27 years and has been the glue that holds things together in the administration office. She has been the one constant in the district. She has been steadfast and helped keep things together during times of transition. We are blessed to have had her working hard in the district, and we wish her the best of luck in this next phase of her life. Congratulations on your retirement JJ. We are so thankful you have been a part of the Viking Family all these years!
The end-of-the-semester finals took place to assess student learning and understanding. Our #1 Core Belief is to increase academic achievement for all our students. Teachers had planned fun festivities for students throughout the week, which included art projects in Mrs. Pepper’s class, hot cocoa in Mrs. Stilly’s class, and a lot of tidings and good cheer.
Thanks to Lucia Miranda and the PICs team for coordinating the Toys for Tots Christmas celebration for ALL of our students. Every student at Center Schools was visited by Santa Claus and received a special gift. It was a fun time for students, and the magic of Christmas was in the air at Center Schools!
Center staff had the chance to relax and unwind at our annual Christmas party. A big thanks to our R & R team, who once again put together a fantastic celebration for all to enjoy.
A special shout out to Alondra Maldonado, the chief party planner coordinating the fun event. Lindsay Stillwagon also pitched in to make the party a success! This is one of the examples of our Ownership Plan at work. Everybody pitches in to help and carry the load.
Focus on Our Fabulous Athletes
Center Vikings basketball teams played hard at the tournament in Rye this week. Lady Vikings played in the championship game and came out with a second-place finish. The CHS boys’ team played hard and finished with a win to take third place at the tournament. Great job, Vikings!!
Our Viking wrestlers competed at the Warrior Classic. Aaron Valadez and Andres Meraz both competed in the semifinals. Our grapplers are working hard and developing their skills to prepare them for future competitions. #VikingStrong
