Focus on the Fabulous
Last week, our Special Education team took a proactive step in strengthening the partnership between families, the school, and the community by hosting our First Annual Parent Information Night, centered on Special Education resources. A special thanks to our dedicated team members: Tara Phillips (K-2), Michelle Sisneros (3-5), Kelsey Fransen (Middle School), Camille Villa (High School), and Karla Stockley (District Psychologist). These ladies organized an informative and engaging presentation that introduced families to various available resources and supports, including community agency services, medical and behavioral support systems, and additional family resources.
Families enjoyed a catered dinner as they explored ways to support their children's education better. This event ties directly into the goals of our District Ownership Plan, particularly Improvement Strategy #3—MTSS. By building these strong relationships, we aim to ensure that staff, students, families, and the community work hand in hand to foster student success. Positive, collaborative relationships with families are essential to creating the best outcomes for our kids, and this event was a fantastic way to kick off the school year. The great turnout and rave reviews from attendees are a testament to the impact of this initiative. Well done, team, for your hard work and dedication!
In addition, our R&R team actively supported our District Ownership initiatives this past week. They delivered Blue Crew Swag Bags to our community partners, each filled with Viking swag, True Blue goodies, and a copy of our District Ownership Plan. This is part of our ongoing effort to ensure the community remains informed about the tremendous work happening in our district every day, thanks to the hard work of our students and staff.
Rewind
Last week, Haskin Elementary students enjoyed their annual trip to the pumpkin patch, a beloved fall tradition! In celebration of the upcoming autumn holidays, each child could pick out their favorite pumpkin. Living in a farming community offers our students this unique and hands-on experience every year, and it’s one they always look forward to. The smiles on their faces said it all—this is truly one of the season's highlights for students and staff alike!
