Focus on the Fabulous

We are getting close to the final product of our District Ownership Plan!  I’m excited to get that out to all of you and to share with our community about all the work we are doing in the district.  Here are a few sneak peeks of the final product.  We are preparing to do an official Launch with our entire team!

The wrestlers had a break this week, but our basketball teams had a great night with their home game on Friday against South Park.  All four of our teams had success!  It was a Viking Sweep in the House of Blue!

Vikings in the News

The Center Dispatch highlighted a number of the great things going on in the district in this week’s paper.  Thanks to Christy Mikeljack for supporting those efforts and sharing the links.  We got to see Mayor Rothermich running the show in Ms. Lane’s class, the great work of our School Board, and the positive efforts our student leaders are making in the district.  Way to go Vikings!

The groundhog did not see his shadow on Friday, Groundhog’s Day, so it sounds like we will have an early spring!  Hip hip hooray!

Our juniors are busy with their Capstone Projects which are a part of the district’s Post-Secondary and Workforce Readiness work.  Francisco Gregorio is shadowing one of our own, Eric Martinez.  What an awesome celebration of what it means to be a Viking.  A Center graduate, serving the community he grew up in as a police officer and SRO, and one of our current students following in his footsteps!  That’s pretty awesome!

Our preschool team welcomed parents this past week with Muffins for Moms and Donuts for Dads.  Parents were excited to get into the classrooms and see the exciting things their kids are working on.  These efforts are aligned with our Family, Community, and Partnership focus!  Everybody is pitching in to make great things happen at Center Schools!

  Rewind

The Safety Team met on Thursday afternoon to review district safety topics.  The team continues to assess and monitor the safety and security of the district.  Charlie Kuhns is doing a great job leading those efforts.  The team reviewed our threat assessment team, emergency protocols and preparedness, communication systems, training completed, and areas of priority for the district.  The team will meet again in a couple of weeks to review district safety policies and make sure they are up-to-date and appropriate.

Students are working hard and earning points in the Merit Competition. At Haskin, 3rd grade has pulled ahead with a slight lead at 250 points, but the Kindergarteners and 5th graders are in a close second with 225 points. At the middle school, the 6th graders are in the lead with 675 points. The 7th graders are in second, but the 8th grade did well this past week and earned points for the fewest referrals and the best attendance! The seniors are still in the lead at the high school and are very close to winning it all with 625 points. Seniors had the best attendance, the fewest referrals, the fewest tardies, and the best grades! The juniors took 2nd in every category! Keep up the good work everybody!

Fast Forward

Fun things are in the future!  This coming week will be Winter Fest so we want everybody to show their Viking Spirit!
