Focus on the Fabulous
Interviews for elementary administration took place on May 31st. I’m happy to formally announce that Krystal Bouet will officially be taking the helm at Haskin Elementary next school year. Krystal has been the elementary assistant principal for the last several years and has demonstrated strong leadership during that time. The committee selected Ms. Bouet and her position was approved by the Board at the June meeting. We are excited to have Krystal in this role. The administration team will be working together over the summer to make sure we start the year on solid footing.
There have been many summer activities going on at Center schools throughout the month of June. Summer school kicked off on June 5th and will run through next week.
Students have been provided with additional targeted instruction from the teaching staff. Students are benefitting from small groups and 1:1 support. Teachers have the flexibility, with these small numbers, to approach learning in a variety of creative ways!
The facilities team, under the leadership of Chris Segura, has been working hard to get summer projects taken care of and our buildings in tip-top shape. The team is working well together, focusing on ground work, classroom cleaning, painting, waxing, and cleaning floors, and getting all equipment working up to standards.
The tech team has been busy getting student devices cleaned and updated so that we are ready to hit the ground running at the beginning of the school year. Julio has also been working to get our security technology updated and in place for the start of the year.
Administration and interview committees have been productive in getting open positions filled. We are in good shape to start the year. We are still hoping to get a couple more positions filled, but all in all, we have been able to hire a number of high-quality team members and it's exciting to see the additional talent that we have on the team!
There is a great deal of behind-the-scenes work that happens to keep the district running efficiently. Thanks to everyone for doing their part in keeping the Viking Ship afloat.
