Focus on the Fabulous
There were so many great things going on at Center Schools this past week. Throughout the week we celebrated our fantastic staff with an appreciation week, Mardi gras style. Staff received some fun treats and pampering, and we all dressed in Mardi gras colors to recognize the amazing people that work in Center and to acknowledge everybody’s hard work. In Center, we are ALL committed to excellence in all we do every day.
Monday afternoon the Kiwanis hosted their annual pancake dinner and once again it was a huge success. We appreciate the partnership we have with the Kiwanis organization and the support that they provide to the school and our students. Kiwanis helps kids around the world and our local club has been dedicated to our community and we can count on them to be there to help out and provide a positive influence on our community and provide the support our students need to thrive.
Tuesday evening we hosted a family night and parents and students had the chance to watch the movie McFarland USA. We welcomed a very special visitor, Tomas Valles, who came to share with our community. Thomas is one of the main characters in the movie, he is portrayed as the troubled teen and also the number one runner. He is someone that our students can relate to and he shares his story of the challenges he faced growing up. One of the key messages shared was one of a bright future for students, that they can be champions of their lives. Thomas reminds student that they are writing their own stories and that they have people around them that they can count on.
Wednesday was an ICAP day and early release. Students took part in a variety of activities related to their postsecondary options. Once students were released, staff had the opportunity to enjoy some of the pampering provided as part of the staff appreciation week.
Thursday evening our staff had a fun end to the week at the Wet Paintbrush. The Sunshine Committee put together another fun event for the staff to enjoy. We had a great turnout and our staff had the chance to demonstrate their artistic talents. It was a fun way to end the week.
