Focus on the Fabulous
Saturday night, CHS hosted its annual prom, taking students back to the Roaring 20s for an evening to remember. It was a fantastic night filled with music, dancing, and entertainment. Our students looked incredible in their formal attire, and it was great to see them enjoying themselves in a fun and safe environment.
The junior class did an outstanding job transforming the auxiliary gym into a 1920s-themed venue, and the After Prom offered a variety of activities to keep the celebration going.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the night such a success. Junio Class sponsors Hanna Hays, Kindra Rounds, and Jody Abeyta did an exceptional job organizing the event, decorating, and making sure the night was one to remember. We also appreciate all who volunteered their time to chaperone, decorate, donate, and support our students. It truly was a wonderful evening!
A huge shoutout to Gabriela Aguilar and her team of dedicated parents for their incredible work raising funds and creating such a memorable After Prom for our students. Our families truly go above and beyond, and we are grateful to everyone who helped make the night such a success!

Speaking of parent support, our Pee Wee Wrestling program continues to thrive thanks to the commitment of involved families. Raelynn and Wade Beiriger have stepped in to lead the program and recently shared exciting highlights from the Elementary State Wrestling tournament. Several of our young athletes qualified for and competed at state—and represented us extremely well!
Congratulations to Jayleen Quintana, who earned 1st place and is a State Champion! Kohle Valadez placed 3rd, Ivan Quintana took 5th, and Julio Perez finished 6th. We are proud of all their hard work and accomplishments.
A special thank you to the Beirigers for stepping in to continue this important program, and to Mariah Villagomez and her husband, Joel, for their years of dedication in building and sustaining it. Because of their efforts, the program has remained strong and continues to support the growth of our district’s wrestling tradition.
Thank you to everyone who contributes their time, energy, and heart to support our students!
District Ownership Plan at Work
Priority #1- Curriculum and Instruction
CCSD staff lead rigorous, engaging, collaborative learning experiences in every classroom that align with CCSD Instructional Expectations.

Mr. Guerrero’s English classes were featured earlier this month in the winter edition of Student Xpress Magazine. The theme of this issue was “doing the right thing,” and our middle school students rose to the occasion. Through thoughtful reflection, they shared how they navigated challenging situations and ultimately made positive choices. We are incredibly proud of their strong literacy skills and, more importantly, their commitment to making good decisions, even when it isn’t easy.

You can view their work here: https://studentsxpress.com/see-magazines/

Congratulations to our published authors:Valeria Bustamante, Trinity Cazares, Gisselle Enriquez, Atty Garcia, Fatima Pulido, Alexandra Rubio, Jaleesa Almeida, Victor Banuelos, Arely Juarez, Yorley Padilla, and Fausto Ramirez.

Students in Mrs. Pepper’s class have been busy. Over the last few weeks, they collected books for a donation drive, and this week, they had fun escaping Emoji Island using their 4th-grade math skills. This was a challenging, real-world lesson that brought learning to life for the students and kept them actively engaged while having fun. Jose Portillo was the successful escapee! What a great learning experience for our students!
Priority #2 – Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness (PWR)
CCSD develops hardworking learners who are contributors, problem solvers, effective communicators, and future-ready with the skills needed to succeed.

Mrs. Maldonado’s multimedia class is helping get some fun things together for our end-of-year celebrations, including Kindergarten Graduation. As part of their preparation, high school student Vanessa Lopez interviewed our kindergartners about their excitement for moving on to 1st grade.

The students responded to fun and engaging questions, and the interviews will be edited into a video to be shared during the graduation ceremony.
Priority #3 – Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
CCSD maintains high expectations for student learning and behavior, with structures in place to support all students' needs.
Our 4th and 5th-grade students, who have done a great job academically and behaviorally this year, were treated to a Rockies game this past week. We want to focus on positive behaviors, and this is one of the ways we do that. These students are great examples of True Blue Center Vikings! Congrats, kids, we are proud of all your hard work throughout the year!

Priority #4- Recruitment and Retention (R&R)
CCSD is committed to attracting, training, and retaining highly qualified teachers, knowing that effective educators are the single most important school-based factor in student success.

Even on days off, our Center Vikings staff is working hard to improve themselves and ensure they have the skills, knowledge, and resources to best support our students. A number of the Haskin Elementary team attended a Crisis Prevention Intervention Training at BOCES on Friday. This training helps to support staff in de-escalating situations in a positive, productive manner. Another example of our team going the extra mile to make sure our kids have the best education and learning environment possible. Go Vikings!
