Focus on the Fabulous

We’re celebrating our fabulous Lady Vikings for qualifying for Regionals, a huge accomplishment that hasn’t happened in decades, if ever! Coach Misty Lambert has built this program from the ground up, developing our athletes into a competitive, hard-working team that has earned winning seasons the past couple of years.

This was an incredible experience for our players and coaches, and we couldn’t be prouder of how far they’ve come. Our community came together on Thursday to give the team a safe and spirited send-off, showing once again what Viking pride looks like in action.

A special thank you to all our community partners for your ongoing support and presence this week, helping ensure the safety and well-being of every student and staff member.

Our Student Safety and Security Team, Mr. Hawkins, Mr. Kuhns, and Mr. Ruybal, continue to do an outstanding job putting systems in place that keep our district secure.

District Ownership Plan at Work

Priority #1 – Curriculum and Instruction

CCSD staff lead rigorous, engaging, collaborative learning experiences in every classroom that align with CCSD Instructional Expectations.

Students in Mrs. Pepper’s 4th-grade class enjoyed a special book tasting experience at Starbooks Café! Mrs. Pepper transformed her classroom into a cozy café where students sampled a variety of books while sipping on tasty beverages.

It was wonderful to see students so excited and engaged in reading! Each group sampled three different books, completed a menu-style graphic organizer, and rated their selections to help decide which book they’ll read next.

This was a fun and creative way to spark a love for reading. Great job, Mrs. Pepper and students!

Priority #2 – Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness (PWR)

CCSD develops hardworking learners who are contributors, problem solvers, effective communicators, and future-ready with the skills needed to succeed.

Priority #3 – Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)

CCSD maintains high expectations for student learning and behavior, with structures in place to support the needs of all students.

Our Special Education Team hosted a Family Night earlier this week, featuring a delicious dinner and valuable information from the team on special education programming, parent resources, and an overview of district processes. We truly appreciate our SPED team for going the extra mile to connect with families and ensure they are informed and supported so that we can work together for student success.

Another great example of our district’s community outreach took place on Thursday with our traveling Cafecitos. Our family liaisons, Brisa Macias and Dalia Molina, along with Mr. Hawkins and the Migrant Education team, visited several community workplaces and warehouses to share important district information and resources with parents who may have difficulty attending school events due to work or family obligations.

Our team once again went above and beyond to strengthen family and community partnerships, demonstrating the district’s commitment to meaningful, ongoing connections with the families we serve.

Priority #4 – Recruitment and Retention (R&R)

CCSD is committed to attracting, training, and retaining highly qualified teachers, knowing that effective educators are the single most important school-based factor in student success.

Our district was highlighted once again in the news, this time featuring our student advocacy trip to Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Thompson’s meaningful Day of the Dead altar!  Vikings are making a difference and shining bright! What a fantastic way to promote our district positively and showcase all the great things happening in Center Schools.
