Focus on the Fabulous

Staff were back on site last week as we geared up for a brand new school year!  On Monday, we welcomed our new teachers to the team, and on Tuesday, we gathered for our annual All Staff Welcome Back event. We celebrated our Viking Family and introduced new members to the crew. Our theme this year continues our Viking Voyage as we Brave the Journey!

As a district, we revisited our Vision:The Center Schools Community seeks to develop hard-working learners who are contributors, problem solvers, effective communicators, future-ready, and empowered with the skills necessary to meet and handle the challenges of today’s changing world.

Rewind

On Thursday, August 7th, we hosted registration! Students and families came in to update information and get ready for the new year. Thanks to Ms. Banning, over 200 backpacks were handed out to students, who were then able to fill them on Friday with supplies donated through La Puente.

As part of our professional development, Ms. Banning led a tour of our town, something we started last year to help staff gain a deeper understanding of our students and the community we serve. Staff also participated in important trainings on mandatory reporting, safety and security, and staff evaluations. In the afternoon, our Viking team focused on the Viking Profile, planning ways to reinforce our desired student characteristics across all grade levels throughout the year.

It was a great first week back for staff, and we can’t wait to welcome all of our students back on campus this Monday!

District Ownership Plan at Work

Our Core Beliefs remain strong, and our District Ownership Plan continues to guide and shape our efforts. We celebrated several important highlights, while also identifying key areas where we will continue to focus and grow as we work toward our goals.

Priority #1 – Curriculum and Instruction:  CCSD staff lead rigorous, engaging, collaborative learning experiences in every classroom that align with CCSD Instructional Expectations.

ree

Priority #2 Post-Secondary and Workforce Readiness (PWR):  CCSD seeks to develop hard working learners that are contributors, problem solvers, effective communicators, future ready and empowered with the skills necessary to meet and handle the challenges they will face in today’s world.

ree

Priority #3- Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS):  CCSD will maintain high expectations for student learning and behavior.  Structures are in place to support the academic and behavioral needs of all students.

ree

 Priority #4- Recruitment and Retention:

CCSD is committed to attracting the best and brightest to teach our students.  Our goal is to recruit, train, and retain highly qualified teachers.  Effective educators are the single most important school-based factor determining student success.
