Focus on the Fabulous

Last year, we launched, and this year, we're navigating the high seas as a united Viking Team! Our vision and focus remain steadfast: to nurture our students into hardworking, empowered learners who are contributors, problem solvers, effective communicators, and future-ready individuals. This Viking Vision aligns perfectly with the qualities we strive to cultivate in our graduates, as outlined in our graduate profile. Together, we're equipping our students to confidently face and overcome the challenges of today's world.

We had a fantastic week preparing for the new school year! Here’s a recap of the events:

Registration New Teacher Training

Week Overview:

·        New Staff Orientation: Kicked off the week with the New Staff Orientation, ensuring all quality staff members are in place. Great news—we're starting the year fully staffed!

·        All Staff Welcome Back: On Tuesday, the All Staff Welcome Back event occurred. The year was launched by reviewing the district priorities outlined in the District Ownership Plan. Staff enjoyed a personality test and an engaging game of Jeopardy focused on district areas of focus. Required beginning-of-the-year trainings were completed, and Ms. Banning provided insights on McKinney-Vento students during a town tour.

Building-Level Meetings: Wednesday was dedicated to building-level meetings, where staff reviewed expectations and schedules. The Methodist Church team provided a delicious lunch, a much-appreciated community partnership that helped celebrate the start of the school year.

Thanks to the Methodist Church for providing staff with a fabulous luncheon.

Thursday Activities: The week wrapped up with a busy Thursday filled with registration, orientations, Back to the Books, and CHAMP. The lively atmosphere was a great way to get everything in place for a smooth start to the school year.

Everyone's efforts are clearly setting the stage for a successful year ahead.

Rewind

Our A-team recently participated in professional development at Boulder Valley School District, focusing on the "7 Steps to a Language-Rich Interactive Classroom" with Dr. Carol Salva. This training provided valuable insights into quality instructional strategies that benefit all students, particularly our Multi-Language Learners. Last year, our A-team dedicated themselves to developing the district’s English Language Development Program. Now, they are deepening their expertise in research-based instructional approaches, which they will share with the rest of our staff during upcoming professional development days.
