Focus on the Fabulous
We are excited to see all of our staff back on campus this week. Hopefully, you will all notice the great work our facilities team has done over the summer to get our buildings and grounds in tip-top shape. Chris and his team have worked hard throughout the summer months to paint, deep clean, remodel, reseed, wax, polish, scrub, and more so that we have nice facilities to return to this week.
Our grounds haven’t looked this good in a long time. We had rose bushes blooming all summer, our grass is green and growing, and the weeds are brown and dying! Just the way we like it! Able did an amazing job painting, and he also made some updates on the concession stand at the park. A big thanks to the facilities team! You make us look good!
Last week, staff had the opportunity to participate in several different professional development opportunities. Our Curriculum and Instruction Team, led by Kevin Hagan and Ashley Lane, hosted two Optional PD days on campus. We had a great turnout of new and veteran staff who took advantage of these additional learning opportunities to get a jumpstart on the new school year.
A number of our staff attended the Regional Collaborative Focusing on Supporting our Historically Marginalized Communities and Most Vulnerable Youth at Adams State on August 1st. The event focused on building transformational partnerships to support vulnerable youth and their families. On the 2nd, there was also a regional training on school safety. I’m excited to see what the team brings back from those trainings.
Rewind
Summer school ended successfully, and students had fun at the Sand Dunes during the end-of-summer field trip. Kids worked hard in their classes and took advantage of small group, targeted instruction. The goal is to get kids additional support during the summer months so that there aren’t any gaps in learning.
The Center Administration Team attended the annual CASE Convention in Breckenridge on July 24th-26th. This event is the unofficial kick-off to a new school year and gets us excited about starting another year. Our team listened to some impressive speakers, including Kevin Brown, who shared his life experiences and what drives organizational excellence in his presentation on The Hero Effect. We got up-to-date info on AI and its impact on education. Sessions focused on current trends in education, upcoming policy and legislation, and everything in between.
